Valance and Cornice Window Treatments

When adding a valance or a cornice to your window it creates a more tailored look and can pull a room together.

Valances work well on their own but also work well with a wide range of window treatments. Depending on the size of a valance it can visually shorten, lengthen, or streamline a window. They also provide a way for disguising hardware from a window blind.

A Cornice just like a valance provides a convenient way of hiding hardware. The most common type of cornice is a box cornice. Typically made of wood and upholstered, a cornice could be the finishing touch to a design scheme. When choosing your fabric keep in mind the decorative style of the room, it is best to choose a fabric that looks good when displayed flat.
