Exterior Prep and Painting Tips

Selecting an Exterior Paint can be challenging. We created this easy to use grid to help in choosing the best exterior paint for you. Before you start your painting project you may want to review the clean, prep and paint tips below.


Cleaning Tip
Before you paint the surface of your house it should be clean of all dirt and mildew. Jomax is a great product to use for exterior cleaning. It is a liquid mildew cleaner ideal for homes. For heavy duty cleaning such as areas that are covered in soot, grease or oil, TSP the perfect product to use. It is a heavy duty caustic powder based cleaner that can get through all tough areas.














Preparation Tip
After the house is cleaned, scrape off any cracked or peeling paint. Those areas will need to be sanded and primed. Older surfaces that are weathered and dried out use Moorwhite Exterior Wood Primer (100).














Painting Tip
When painting with latex paint you need to use a nylon/polyester blend brush.

For best results paint when the temperature is between 75 and 85 degrees with low humidty.
